How to use this page

Making a request

Before asking volunteers to look for your source, try finding it yourself with the tools at your disposal.

In particular, eligible editors can use the Wikipedia Library, which gives access to content provided by numerous academic publishers.

Warning: for legal reasons, we must note that the Resource Exchange cannot fix any medical problems. But it can fix references.

• Though we would prefer you to ask for a specific journal, article or work, we will accept open-ended questions. You can ask for all kinds of sources here, either on this page or by writing directly to an active user.
• Provide as much detail as possible: a full citation with author, title, publisher, date and identifiers like DOI, ISBN, ISSN, PMID, OCLC, etc. Indicate which article you need this for.
• Due to copyright restrictions, we cannot send you full book/thesis copies. Narrow down your request to a specific chapter or page(s).
• Since we cannot post original copyrighted material online, we will most likely send it by email. Make sure you have specified an email address in your preferences before asking.
• Add the {{Resolved}} template when your request is completed.
• Filled requests are archived. Requests unfilled after three months will also be archived.

Fulfilling a request

• Anyone may offer advice and fulfill requests, in full or in part. When fulfilling a part of a request, tell others which one so that they don't have to do the same work.
• Notify (mention) the requester using {{u|REQUESTER_USERNAME}}.
• You can:
  • post a URL address ( https://... ) if the material is available online and the webpage does not infringe others' copyrights
  • share scans of pages or documents using a file-sharing service if legal

Copyright tips

• Respect copyrights and terms of services of any online services you use.
• Limit sharing content online that the copyright holders have restricted access to to the minimum level: only to the individuals who need it, only to the minimal degree necessary to fulfil the request and only to improve Wikipedia. We share content under a presumed non-commercial, educational, fair use purpose to improve our articles or create new ones.
• Whenever possible, share copies privately. You should not upload copyrighted copies from print publications or online databases for unrestricted distribution via open websites.
• Individual editors are solely responsible for sharing copyrighted content and assume all legal risks. Check the laws of your jurisdiction to make sure you are comfortable and safe giving access to it.

• upload out of copyright works to Wikimedia Commons or Wikisource (make sure your institution's policies allow this). Check Wikimedia Commons's guide for copyright in each jurisdiction if in doubt.

Volunteers who will locate and send articles for you and are willing to be contacted to handle complex queries or answer questions

Books about folktales of Southeast Asian peoples (Tai Khamti and Shan)

The following books were written by academics of the peoples themselves.

The introduction is for Khamti people as a possible source, tale 16 for "The Story of the Hamadryad" (girl marries python).

The alternate for tale 29 indicates it is a Khamti variant of Sang Thong (aka. "The Prince in a Golden Conch [Shell]"), because "Hǒi-sang" was the name used by J. Leyden and Captain James Low to indicate the existence of the tale in the early 19th century.

The Story of a Fairy and a Prince is homonymous with a tale first collected from a Shan source and published by Mrs. Leslie Milne in 1910. Milne's tale is a Shan variant of ATU 408 and the Indian "The Belbati Princess". Would like to see if it another variant or a reedition of Milne's text. In the latter's case, will add it as a reprint and later to separate the Shan tales.

"White Shell-fish" has a parallel title to a Shan tale published by B. R. Pearne in Journal of the Burma Research Society with the title "The Silver Oyster", which has been pointed as a Shan variant of Sang Thong. Possibly another variant of the Shan tale.

"The Youth of Emerald Mollusc" has a similar title with the Khamti "The Young Man from the Emerald Mollusc (Sao Hoi Seng)".

KHR FolkMyth, available copies of the books seem to be few and far between. There is the one that you found in the National Library of Myanmar, and the Department of Ethnical Literature & Culture-Kachin State also appears to have a copy, given the Facebook post here. Two bookshops also appear to have it: one here, for $3.5, and one here (although that post is from 2020). The first of those also includes a link to the book's table of contents, acknowledgements, introduction, and foreword. Note that the author died some months after publication, so reaching out to him is not an option. The reality is that the book is going to be difficult to borrow from a library. The best option would likely be to reach out to some of the parties above, and see if they would be willing to provide a scan of a few pages. (The bookshops may be less likely to do that, but while it's less than ideal to have to pay for sources used on Wikipedia, the cost before shipping does appear to be nominal—maybe they'd provide a scan so you wouldn't have to also pay for shipping?) --Usernameunique (talk) 18:27, 1 December 2025 (UTC)

Getting in touch with an author or publisher is frequently a good way to get a copy of an article, especially when it's a niche piece; mentioning that it's for Wikipedia is also sometimes helpful, because it (a) shows it's for research (a reason for which authors, themselves researchers, frequently can relate), and (b) implies that the article might become more widely cited. Particularly here, when you're looking for a book that we can't find a trace of outside of Myanmar, I would try every available avenue. --Usernameunique (talk) 03:03, 2 December 2025 (UTC)

@Mmemaigret: That was being used as a reference on Northern Suburbs Transit System before that article was merged with Yanchep line. Its possible that this article only appeared in the Western Australian edition of the newspaper. Otherwise, something is wrong in the original citation. Any further context to this?

What I can say is, based on the reference and the original commit date, that citation is from a newspaper article that was within Government Archives, found when I was doing in-person research from files requested from their offsite archive.

Sadly, my original cite at the time does not have the file number, box or other information which would allow me to quickly identify where in the files it was.

I can say with certainty, that the content I quoted from the article in the commit is a direct and accurate quote of the article observed.

My best and easiest approach would be to go microfiche hunting at SLWA for this edition if it's on file. Thewinchester ^(talk) 19:01, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

Encyclopédie générale des transports: Chemins de fer

For Le Touquet, specifically Talk:Le Touquet/GA2.

The book is organised by French department numbers. I'm not sure if it's volume 9 but it should presumably be under chapter 62, which is definitely called Pas-de-Calais. The question is whether the references that are in the Rail section support the current wording of the text. Very likely that the book is offline and only available in France.

First Fruits

Hey folks, this is a tough one. I'm working on a sandbox article for the Huntington Hartford Foundation. There's an important source from the Foundation that was published in 1956. It is more commonly known as First Fruits, and is held by major libraries under that name, but two of them have it under Six Years of Accomplishments so I included that alternate OCLC just in case. UCLA, Harvard, and NYPL all have copies. Thanks for any help. If you have access to the work, let me know as I have a few questions, mostly having to do with the history of the property and the names of all of the fellows, as they are very hard to find. There were supposedly 400 famous artists hosted by the Foundation, but the sources are almost non-existent. One of the reasons this is important to me is because while Huntington Hartford was a very flawed man and had some very strange, eccentric ideas, and caused a lot of problems in the art world at the time, there are recent sources that attribute some measure of historical interest to his indirect promotion of the concept of contemporary art over the term "modern" (he wasn't the first, but he helped contribute to this debate), and the idea that his art colony, for all its wasted money, produced some measure of success, results which have been lost to time and are left to others to discover. This is also a very California-oriented topic unique to that state's history, and there's a dearth of coverage about it. For comparison, we have Druid Heights in NoCal, Moy Mell in SLO, and Rustic Canyon, this topic, which has not been covered on Wikipedia in any depth. Thanks. Article by Denver Webb from Issue 31 of The Coelacanth (1993)

I'm currently working on Paul Xiniwe, and one of the references on the page cites this journal. I'm hoping that the full article will have more information on Xiniwe and his life that I can use in the article.

There's a couple journals named "The Coelacanth", but from context I'm assuming it's this one from Rhodes University in South Africa. Their online archives only have 3 issues, none of which are the one with Webb's article.

Does anyone know where I can find this article? I've tried looking in TWL, but it doesn't seem to have this particular journal (unless I'm missing something, as searching for "The Coelacanth" mostly brings up articles about the fish).

These two for King Lindworm and The Girl with Two Husbands. "O re serpente" is a Griko tale, which, per Renato Aprile's summary in his Index, has the same double narrative of the Greek tales: heroine marries snake prince and disenchants him, revives dead man and marries him, chooses between first and second husbands.

3 * Il ria rekko or Il re porco

For King Crin, Italian tale with the enchanted husband in pig form; geographically, it is located in Italy; ethnographically, it is a tale told by the Griko people of South Italy.

For The Golden Root. "Tuone e Lampe" is the name of the heroine's husband, meaning Thunder and Lightning.

Szmenderowiecki, for the ALR, there's the fairly well-organized public-domain 1919 version, and then it's just been updated over the years with a "cumulative supplement" with headnotes from bazillions of cases that mention clean hands with little or no topical organization. I don't think you'd find it very useful, and it runs to north of 200 pages, which is more than I can plausibly claim fair use on. The more recent ALRs focus on much narrower topics (e.g., "Unclean Hands as Bar to Equitable Relief in Domestic Relations Proceeding or Dispute"). Finnish Figure Skating Championships – December 1986, 1990

I am having difficulty locating sourced results for the Finnish Figure Skating Championships, which were held in December 1986 and December 1989. The 1989 event began on December 10, but I have been unable to find anything with regards to the outcome. Chances are good that the 1986 event was held mid-December. Any help locating newspaper articles for these results would be appreciated!

Access to Indonesian and Indic Ocean tales in French

A summary of the Indonesian tale mentions that the princess goes in search of her husband Lembayoung to release him from the curse. The books in item 1 are German and French translations of the tale. Whichever is available.

The other book is a collection of Réunionais tales by Réunionais writer Daniel Honoré, with the text in Créole and French. I'm looking for the French translation.

Golden Spin of Zagreb (Croatia) – December 1974

I am having difficulty locating the results for the pair skating competition at the Golden Spin of Zagreb, which was held the weekend of December 20–22, 1974, in Zagreb, Croatia (then part of Yugoslavia). I have been able to confirm the results for the men's and women's events, but not the pairs. This article confirms that the pairs event was held. These are the only results I still need to complete this article. Any help would be appreciated!

Nebelhorn Trophy (Oberstdorf, Germany) – August 1969 & September 1970

I am having difficulty locating the results for the 1969 and 1970 editions of this figure skating competition. The 1969 edition was the event's first. It was held in Oberstdorf in what was then West Germany. It may or may not have been officially called the Nebelhorn Trophy at the time. I need the 1969 results for men and pairs, and the 1970 results for women, pairs, and ice dance. Based on news articles I have found, the 1969 edition took place in mid-August, and the 1970 edition in early September. These are the only results I still need to complete this article. Any help would be appreciated!

Semi-obscure to obscure request here. The score for the piece Spain (instrumental) ends right before the chorus with the clapping, which is very unfortunate. If anyone has a physical or digital copy of the music for Spain who could either send it to me or extend it themselves would be greatly appreciated.
