Ali Alrida Mohamad Ismail (Arabic: علي الرضا محمد اسماعيل; born 8 July 2003) is a Lebanese footballer who plays as a right-back for Lebanese Premier League club Nejmeh and the Lebanon national under-23 team.
Early life
[edit | edit source]Ismail was born on 8 July 2003 in Mais al-Jabal, Lebanon.[1] He developed an interest in football at a young age and progressed through local youth setups before joining Nejmeh, one of the most prominent clubs in the Lebanese Premier League. His early involvement in the sport led to his selection for Lebanon's youth national teams, where he gained experience in competitive international football.[3]
Club career
[edit | edit source]Ismail joined the youth academy of Nejmeh in 2016, where he progressed through the club's development system.[4] After several years in the youth ranks, he was promoted to Nejmeh's first team in 2021, making his debut in the Lebanese Premier League.[5]
International career
[edit | edit source]Ismail has represented Lebanon at various youth levels. In 2021, he was part of Lebanon's squad for the WAFF U-18 Championship, where the team reached the final before finishing as runners-up to Iraq.[6] Ismail was called up to the under-23 team for the 2026 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualification,[7] where he contributed to the team's first-ever qualification for the final tournament.[8]
Ismail has also received call-ups to the senior Lebanon national team.[9]
Playing style
[edit | edit source]Ismail is a versatile full-back capable of playing on both the right and left side of defence. He is noted for his stamina and work rate, which allow him to contribute both defensively and in supporting attacking plays along the flanks.[10]
