Workable is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company that provides a recruitment and human resources (HR) management platform. It is based in Boston, Massachusetts.[1]

History

[edit | edit source]

Workable was founded in 2012 in Athens, Greece by Nikos Moraitakis and Spyros Magiatis.[2][3][4] Over the years, Workable has opened offices in Boston, Massachusetts; London, United Kingdom; Athens, Greece; and Singapore.[5]

In 2013, Workable received seed funding from the Greek investment firm Openfund.[6][7] A year later, in 2014, it received a $1.5 million investment from Greylock Israel.[8][4][9]

In 2015, Workable raised $27 million in a Series B funding round led by Balderton Capital.[3]

In 2018, Zouk Capital invested $50 million in Workable.[10][11]

In 2020, Workable was included on the Financial Times FT 1000 list of Europe's fastest-growing companies.[12]

Platform

[edit | edit source]

Workable provides cloud-based applicant tracking and recruitment software. The software uses predictive algorithms to recommend candidates for a position based on recruitment and personal data collected from online sources.[10] The platform's features were later expanded to include tools for onboarding, employee management, and performance monitoring.[10] A human resources information system (HRIS) was launched in 2024.[13]

Reception

[edit | edit source]

Workable was reviewed by Juan Martinez and Gadjo Sevilla of PCMag in 2019 and wrote positively about the software.[14] Similarly, its platform was reviewed by TechRadar in 2022.[15]
