Valentin Vacherot (French:[valɑ̃tɛ̃vaʃʁo]; born 16 November 1998) is a Monégasque professional tennis player. He has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 30 achieved on 3 November 2025 and a doubles ranking of No. 476 achieved on 20 February 2023.[2] In 2025, Vacherot became the first player from his nation to win an ATP Tour singles title and the lowest ranked champion in Masters 1000 history (since 1990), at the Shanghai Masters.[3][4] He also became the first Monégasque player to reach the top 50 in singles and to record a Top 10 win.[5][6][7] He is the current No. 1 Monaco singles player.[8]
In October 2025, Vacherot and Rinderknech both reached the final of a Masters 1000 for the first time in their respective careers at the Shanghai Masters.[13][14][3]
Vacherot also received a wildcard for the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters[28][29] and recorded his first Masters win over Jan-Lennard Struff in straight sets.[30][31] He became the first Monégasque player to win a main draw match at the tournament since Jean-René Lisnard in 2009.[32]
In October, ranked No. 204, Vacherot won his maiden title at the 2025 Rolex Shanghai Masters as a qualifier, becoming the lowest ranked player to ever win a Masters 1000 tournament. After qualifying, he recorded his second and third Masters wins[33] by defeating Laslo Djere[34] in straight sets and 14th seed Alexander Bublik in the second round.[35] Vacherot reached his first Masters 1000 fourth round following the retirement of 20th seed Tomáš Macháč. He then upset 27th seed Tallon Griekspoor, despite dropping the first set for a second time, to reach his first Masters quarterfinal and thus became the lowest-ranked quarterfinalist in the event history in Shanghai, and the first player from Monaco to reach an ATP Tour and Masters-level quarterfinal at the same time.[36][37][38] Next he defeated tenth seed Holger Rune in the quarterfinals. Vacherot defeated Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, recording the first top 10 (and top 5) win for a Monégasque player in history, and becoming the lowest ranked player to ever reach a Masters 1000 final.[39] In just Vacherot’s 27th tour-level match, he defeated his cousin Arthur Rinderknech to win his first ATP Tour and Masters 1000 title.[3] Going into the Shanghai final, Vacherot and Rinderknech had each won 3 matches after dropping the first set.[citation needed] The cousins also collectively defeated 10 of the 32 seeds (5 each) in the draw.[citation needed]
Vacherot then received a wildcard into the Basel Open, however lost in a three set thriller to World No. 4 Taylor Fritz, in the first round.[40] Vacherot then also received a wildcard into the Paris Masters, where he defeated Jiří Lehečka,[41] again his cousin Arthur Rinderknech and Cameron Norrie, reaching a consecutive Masters quarterfinal.[42] Despite losing to ninth seed Félix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets in the quarterfinals, Vacherot reached a new career-high ranking in the top 30 on 3 November 2025.[43]
