This is the WikiProject banner template used by WikiProject Botswana to keep track of articles within its scope. All articles are categorised into Category:WikiProject Botswana articles.

Basic usage

Place this on the talk page of relevant articles:

Parameters

• importance – see #Importance assessment below.
• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

Notes and alerts

• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention. This parameter populates Category:Botswana articles needing attention.
• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles. This parameter populates Category:Botswana articles needing infoboxes.
• needs-image – to request that an image or photograph be added to the page.
• image-details – additional text to insert before the words "be added to this article" to describe the subject or type of image that is requested.
• image-in – specify the location of the requested image. Will be categorised into Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in LOCATION, where LOCATION is the value of the |image-in= parameter. If no location is specified then Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Botswana is used by default.
• needs-map – set |needs-map=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "An editor has requested a map or maps to be included in this article to improve its quality. Once the map is uploaded, please remove the |needs-map= parameter from this template." This will populate Category:Wikipedia requested maps in Botswana.
• unref – set |unref=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "This article lacks sufficient references and adequate inline citations. Once the references are added, please remove the |unref= parameter from this template." This will populate Category:Unreferenced Botswana articles.
• needs-geocoord – set |needs-geocoord=yes or any non-blank value other than "no", "n" or "0". The following message will be displayed: "This article lacks Geocoordinate data. Once the Geocoordinates data is added, please remove the |needs-geocoord= parameter from this template." This will populate Category:Botswana articles missing geocoordinate data.

Deprecated parameters

• listas – this parameter should be used with the banner shell template, not on individual project banners. Please see Template:WikiProject banner shell for details.

Usage

This project banner template {{WikiProject Botswana}} may be added to the talk pages of articles within the scope of WikiProject Botswana. Each article's talk page is then added to Category:WikiProject Botswana articles automatically. Other categories may be added, depending on the parameters selected. This template is a self-reference.

Assessment

• class – valid values are fa, a, ga, b, c, start, stub, fl, list, category, disambig, draft, file, portal, project, template, na (case-insensitive). See the project's quality scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |class= blank or omit the parameter.
• importance – valid values are: top, high, mid, low, na (case-insensitive). See the project's importance scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |importance= blank or omit the parameter.

Optional parameters

• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • This parameter populates Category:Botswana articles needing infoboxes.
• listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Firstname Lastname, use |listas=Lastname, Firstname so that the talk page will show up in the L's and not the F's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter.   If the article is using {{WikiProject banner shell}} then it is preferable to add |listas= to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required.

Special use only

• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.
