Purpose

[edit source]

This template adds an external link to an article in the Encyclopaedia of Mathematics on www.encyclopediaofmath.org.

Parameters

[edit source]

All parameters are optional.

{{SpringerEOM
 |title=
 |author-last1=
 |author-first1=
 |author-link1=
 |author-last2=
 |author-first2=
 |author-link2=
 |oldid=
 |ref=
 |id=
}}

Parameters specific to {{SpringerEOM}}

[edit source]
  • title: Title of the article, used to generate the link used
  • oldid: Specified a specific version of the article eg |oldid=23715. This value can be found in the "How to Cite this article" area at the bottom of each article in the EOM.
  • id: (deprecated) This field is no longer used. The id name and version number of the cited article. For example, the article Fredholm theorems would have an id=Fredholm_theorems&oldid=12814, where "oldid=12814" indicates the version of the article that is being cited. This value can be found in the "How to Cite this article" area at the bottom of each article in the EOM.

Parameters of {{cite encyclopedia}}

[edit source]
  • author-last (or author-last1): The first author's surname or last name.
  • author-first (or author-first1): The first author's first or given name(s).
  • author-link (or author-link1): Title of an existing Wikipedia article about the first author.
  • author-last2: The second author's surname or last name, if applicable.
  • author-first2: The second authors' first or given name(s), if applicable.
  • author-link2: Title of an existing Wikipedia article about the second author, if applicable.
  • Lua error in Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration at line 2172: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value).: the citation's HTML anchor identifier, when different from its default. When set, |ref=ID generates an anchor with the given ID (the id= attribute in the citation's <cite id="ID"> HTML tag). Setting |ref=ID identifies the template as a target and allows wikilinking to full references, especially useful with short-form citations like shortened notes and parenthetical referencing. The default anchor ID is suitable for use with {{sfn}} and {{harv}} templates. Since April 2020, the parameter / keyword pair |ref=harv has no special meaning; this deprecated setting should not be used and may be removed from existing cs1|2 templates. To inhibit anchor ID creation, set |ref=none. Aliases: Lua error in Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration at line 2172: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value).. See Template:Citation/doc § Anchors for Harvard referencing templates.
  • ...and all others (except title and id): {{SpringerEOM}} is a template wrapper around {{cite encyclopedia}}. Any parameter of {{cite encyclopedia}} may be given to this template, which will pass the parameter to {{cite encyclopedia}}, unless it is one of the above parameters that have meanings specific to {{SpringerEOM}}.

Examples and usage

[edit source]

Suppose you want to add an external link to Springer's article on Fredholm theorems. The title of this article is "Fredholm theorems" so following the mediawiki page article naming convention the id of the article page would be "Fredholm_theorems". However, because the article is a dynamic document, the version number must be included in the id to complete the citation. The full template id for the current version of this article would be "Fredholm_theorems&oldid=12814".

The code

{{SpringerEOM |title=Fredholm theorems |author-first=B. V. |author-last=Khvedelidze}}

will produce the link

Lua error in Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration at line 2172: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value).

The code

{{SpringerEOM |title=Virasoro algebra |author-first=V. |author-last=Kac |author-link=Victor Kac}}

will produce

Lua error in Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration at line 2172: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value).

The code

{{SpringerEOM |title=Index formulas |author-first1=M. I. |author-last1=Voitsekhovskii |author-first2=M. A. |author-last2=Shubin}}

will produce

Lua error in Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration at line 2172: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value).

The Harvard citation templates (with year 2001) will produce internal links; for example {{harv|Kac|2001}} produces the link (Kac 2001), and {{harv|Voitsekhovskii|Shubin|2001}} produces (Voitsekhovskii & Shubin 2001).

With no parameters

{{SpringerEOM}}

this template defaults to using the title of the Wikipedia page in which it is transcluded for |title=:

Lua error in Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration at line 2172: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value).

Tracking category

[edit source]

Pages using this template with missing parameters |title= or using incorrect parameter "article" are added to Category:Template SpringerEOM with broken ref.

Template aliases
