This template is used to construct a link to the Scottish Parliament website's page on an individual Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP).

The link may be formatted in several different ways.

Basic usage

[edit source]

The basic usage takes the MSP's name from the title of the article, and creates a link formatted in a style suited to the external links section of an article:

  • {{SP-MSP}}

e.g. on the article Tricia Marwick,

Specified name

[edit source]

If the name of the MSP is not the same as the current article, the name may be specified with a single, unnamed parameter:

e.g.

  • {{SP-MSP|Tricia Marwick}} → Scottish Parliament profiles of MSPs: Tricia Marwick
  • {{SP-MSP|Ken Macintosh}} → Scottish Parliament profiles of MSPs: Ken Macintosh
  • {{SP-MSP|Alison Johnstone}} → Scottish Parliament profiles of MSPs: Alison Johnstone

The template supports four different modes, for use in different contexts. These are specified using the |mode= parameter:

mode=profile (default)
  • {{SP-MSP|Tricia Marwick|mode=profile}} → Scottish Parliament profiles of MSPs: Tricia Marwick
mode=cite (for use inside <ref>...</ref> tags)
  • {{SP-MSP|Tricia Marwick|mode=cite}}Lua error in Module:Citation/CS1/Configuration at line 2172: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value).
mode=url (just the bare URL of the profile page)
mode=nameonly (the only text is the linked name)
