| This is a documentation subpage for Template:Representative. It may contain usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Purpose
[edit source]{{Representative}} looks up information about an incumbent member of a representative body. When this information is replicated across many articles, corrections and updates become laborious. Gathering it together on a single wiki page (herein called a 'dataset') eases the maintenance burden.
Parameters
[edit source]Positional parameters
[edit source]- The first positional parameter indicates which dataset to use for lookup.
- The second positional parameter, usually a numeric value, indicates which district or seat.
Named parameters
[edit source]- format= to specify the display format (name of formatting template)
- fmt= to specify the display format (shorthand)
Examples
[edit source]- {{Representative|nycd|1}}
- displays the representative of New York's 1st congressional district in the default format:
- Nick LaLota (R)
- {{Representative|caad|2|format=Representative/format/nameonly}}
- displays the representative of California's 2nd State Assembly district using {{Representative/format/nameonly}} for formatting:
- Chris Rogers
- {{Representative|cacd|3|fmt=linked}}
- displays the representative of California's 3rd congressional district using {{Representative/format/linked}} for formatting:
