This template should be placed on drafts by editors other than the original draft creator to indicate that the draft has promise and is worthy of more significant review and discussion prior to deletion in order to avoid losing valuable encyclopedia content. This includes drafts whose title is the target of a significant number of red links already in main article space.

Parameters
[edit source]|reason=– add "because ..." phrase to the message text, with the value of the param replacing the ellipsis (the word "because" is already included in the template).

[edit source]Such drafts are categorized within Category:Promising draft articles. If this template is put on an article by mistake, the article will be categorized in Category:Misused Promising draft template.
Notes
[edit source]A request for comment in June 2018 closed with a consensus that the {{promising draft}} template "cannot be used to indefinitely prevent a WP:G13 speedy deletion nomination".
