Usage
[edit source]Returns the correct colour for a geological period. Currently requires expansion to work with all periods.
The colours use the World Geological Map (Paris) colours, the global standard used at by the International Commission on Stratigraphy.
The template should be updated to use the values stated in the spreadsheet provided on the Official International Commission on Stratigraphy's website (listed under the "additional chart resources" section). Please be careful not to leave any spaces in the rgb() declaration.
Example
[edit source]{{Period color|Devonian}}
Produces:
rgb(203,140,55)
That will appear in a wikitable or template as follows:
| Period system |
|---|
| Devonian |
This template can be used in navbars in the |titlestyle= parameter:
|titlestyle=border-style:solid; border-color:transparent
{{Period color|proterozoic}}; border-width: 0 2.7em;
See {{Proterozoic footer}} for how the color appears in the navbar's title bar.
