Template:AI citations
When to use
[edit source]This tag is intended to identify articles that contain citations whose URLs show signs of being generated by artificial intelligence. Such URLs may point to sources that are fabricated, unreliable or fail to verify the material they are cited for.
AI-generated URLs may include suspicious domain names, non-existent publishers, or content that appears to have been automatically produced without human editorial oversight. These citations can undermine the verifiability of an article if not carefully checked.
Editors should review the affected citations to determine whether they support the statements they are attached to. If a citation is found to be unreliable or unverifiable, the material it supports may also need to be tagged or removed per Wikipedia's content policies on verifiability and reliable sourcing.
How to use
[edit source]Place {{AI citations|date=July 2026}} at the top of the disputed article or section and then explain your reasons on the page's talk page. If the date is not included it will likely be added later by a bot.
Optional parameters include:
|1=(or an empty parameter): changes the default descriptor (i.e., 'article'). For example,{{AI citations|section}}changes it to 'section'.
