Shadegan County (Persian: شهرستان شادگان)[a] is in Khuzestan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Shadegan.[3]
History
[edit | edit source]After the 2006 National Census, Khanafereh Rural District[b] was separated from the Central District in the formation of Khanafereh District, including the new Naseri Rural District.[4]
After the 2011 census, Darkhoveyn Rural District and the city of Darkhoveyn were separated from the Central District in forming Darkhoveyn District, including the new Darisiyeh Rural District. At the same time, the village of Khorusi-ye Jonubi was elevated to city status as Khanafereh.[5]
Demographics

[edit | edit source]At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 138,226 in 23,813 households.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 153,355 people in 34,618 households.[7] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 138,480 in 36,031 households.[2]
