Seemee (Си́ми; real name Aleksey Olegovich Stepanov) is a Russian rapper, a member of the music collective Melon Music.[2][3][4]

Career

[edit | edit source]

On April 19, 2019, he released his debut full-length album Scum Off the Pot together with Mayot. The album featured guest appearances from 163onmyneck, OG Buda, and Malen’kiy Yarchye. Its release also marked the launch of the label CPlus.[5]

On July 31, 2020, he released a joint EP with Yungway titled Magic, consisting of six tracks. Mayot appeared on one of the songs.

On September 4, 2020, he released his breakthrough single "Hungry Dog" featuring Soda Luv. The track went largely unnoticed for several months until early 2021, when it sparked a trend on TikTok. The song then rapidly gained popularity and stayed at the top of streaming charts for a long time. By the end of 2021, VKontakte ranked it #25 in its year-end top 30 tracks. Music outlet The Flow listed the single at #19 in its "Top 50 Songs of 2021."[6][7]

On June 25, 2021, he released the album Txc. The name is a reference to the word "toxic," reflecting the dark mood of the songs and production. The magazine Afisha described the release as "not just an album, but an entire universe with its own characters." Guest appearances included Mayot, Bushido Zho, Lovv66, 163onmyneck, Scally Milano, OG Buda, Soda Luv, Yungway, Pika, The Chemodan, and Brick Bazuka. Rap.ru ranked the album #15 in its list of the 20 best Russian rap albums of 2021.[8][9]

On June 24, 2022, he and Mayot released Scum Off the Pot 2, the sequel to their first collaborative album. The record contains 24 tracks featuring Sidodgi Dubo$hit, OG Buda, Hood Rich Luka, 163onmyneck, Scally Milano, Bushido Zho, and Malen’kiy Yarchye. Rap.ru wrote: "The second part continues where the first left off. If back then they were still young and unknown, today their names are well established — and that evolution is reflected in the sound." Media outlet SRSLY commented: "Scum Off The Pot 2 demonstrates how the artists have changed over the past couple of years. They now confidently experiment with new flows. Some tracks are almost old-school groovy, while others sound fierce and intimidating."[10][11]
