Samuel Short (born 17 September 2003) is an Australian competitive swimmer. He has represented Australia at the World Championships and Commonwealth Games. Short won a gold medal in the 1500m Freestyle and a silver in the 400m Freestyle at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, as well as a silver medal as part of the 4 × 200 m Freestyle Relay at the 2022 World Championships.[1][2]

Biography

Short competed at the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in the 1500 metres freestyle. He qualified despite finishing two laps early by mistake at the National trials.[3]

In 2022, he was selected for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham where he competed in the men's 400 metres freestyle, reaching the final and winning a silver medal.[1][4] Short also won a gold medal in the 1500m Freestyle.

Short has a personal best of 3.40.68 in the 400 free, which is the 7th fastest performance in history.

Short has a personal best of 7.37.76 in the 800 free, which is an Australian and Commonwealth record.
