Samuel Gustafson (born 11 January 1995) is a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for J1 League club Urawa Red Diamonds and the Sweden national team.[1]
Club career
[edit | edit source]On 2 September 2019, he signed a multi-year contract with the Serie B club Cremonese.[2]
On 9 July 2021, he returned to BK Häcken on a three-year contract.[3]
On 29 December 2023, Gustafson signed for J1 League side Urawa Red Diamonds on a permanent transfer, where he was reunited with manager Per-Mathias Høgmo, who left BK Häcken a few days earlier.[4] Gustafson made his debut for the club, starting the whole game, in a 2-0 lost against Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the opening game of the season.[5]
International career
[edit | edit source]Gustafson represented the Sweden U21 team a total of seven times between 2015 and 2016.[6] He made his full international debut for Sweden on 16 November 2022 in a friendly game against Mexico, playing the full 90 minutes in a 2–1 win.[7]
Personal life
[edit | edit source]Gustafson's twin brother, Simon Gustafson, also a footballer, was Samuel's teammate at BK Häcken.[8]
