Reception

[edit | edit source]

Variety said Elliott "wrote the piece with Miss Merriwether in mind so the role wasn’t too taxing and showcased as a pleasant if not exciting ingenue. The Miss America prize won her a scholarship to the Pasadena Playhouse and her debut shows she had the material to develop."[1]

The Philadelphia Inquirer said Meriwether was "enormously compelling".[2]
