Rhomboptera is a genus of katydids in the family Tettigoniidae.[1] It was first described in 1895 by Austrian entomologist Josef Redtenbacher,[2] while its type species was described at the same time by German entomologist Carl Brunner von Wattenwyl.[3]
Description
[edit | edit source]It has wings that mimic a leaf, a form of camouflage to hide from predators. It can reach a total length of 47 mm (1.9 in), which includes wings.
Distribution
[edit | edit source]Rhomboptera is found in Southeast Asia, where it can be found in the following countries: India, Bhutan, China, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei.[1]
