Ranunculus verticillatus is a species of buttercup, endemic to New Zealand.[2][3][1][4][5]
Description
[edit | edit source]A typical Ranunculus, with green leaves and a yellow flower.[1] The leaves are deeply divided.[4]
Range
[edit | edit source]Endemic to New Zealand, known from both the North and South Island[5]
Habitat

Ecology
[edit | edit source]Ranunculus verticillatus is an indicator of wetlands.[1]
Phytomyza costata, a leaf miner, uses the leaves for its mines.[6]
Etymology
[edit | edit source]verticillatus is an adjectival form of the Latin verticillus, which would mean 'whorled'.[7]
Taxonomy
[edit | edit source]Formerly, this species name was also used for other species of Ranunculus, and was included on lists of plants from other areas, like Vermont.[8]
