Description and history

[edit | edit source]

The Smithsonian Institution describes the sculpture as "two abstract figures with intrabody appendages supported by tripod-like legs".[1] It measures approximately 8.5 feet (2.6 m) x 5.5 feet (1.7 m) x 3 feet (0.91 m) and is set on a concrete base that measures approximately 3.5 feet (1.1 m) x 3 feet (0.91 m) x 3 feet (0.91 m). A plaque on the front of the base reads: PROMETHEUS / JAN ZACH – SCULPTOR. The sculpture's condition was deemed "treatment needed" by the Smithsonian's "Save Outdoor Sculpture!" program in July 1993.[1]
