Background and release

[edit | edit source]

In an interview with Total Ntertainment, the band stated they had written much of the EP whilst touring in 2025, having toured the USA and UK in October and November respectively, and headlining Reading and Leeds Festival in August.[1][3] The band chose the name Play! based on their touring experience and stated it was about "keeping energy up [...] like pressing play on a movie or video game".[4] They have also shared future plans in an interview with Kerrang!, stating they intend to release one more EP before releasing a full studio album.[2]

The first single, "Supermodels" was released on 14 March 2025.[5] The band released the second single "Fear of Heights" on 11 July.[6] On 15 October, the band released the third single, "Drive Myself Home", and announced the EP Play!, scheduled for release 21 November.[3] The band postponed the release of the EP to 28 November as they felt being on tour meant they needed more time to deliver it "to the standard [fans] deserve".[7]

Composition

[edit | edit source]

Play! has been described as alternative rock, 2000s rock, and indie rock, with "Y2K-core" aesthetics.[8]
