Perfect Crown (KoreanLua error: not enough memory.Lua error: not enough memory.) is an upcoming South Korean television series written by Yoo Ah-in, directed by Park Joon-hwa (Lua error: not enough memory.)Lua error: not enough memory., and starring IU, Byeon Woo-seok, Noh Sang-hyun, and Gong Seung-yeon. The series unfolds when the second daughter of a chaebol family enter a contract marriage with the second son of the King. It is scheduled to premiere on MBC TV in the first half of 2026, and will air every Friday and Saturday. It will also be available for streaming on Disney+.

Synopsis

The series follows the story of a woman named Sung Hee-joo, who feels frustrated by her status as a commoner, even though she is a member of a conglomerate, and Prince Yi Ahn, who experiences sorrow as the king's son yet possesses nothing.

Development

The series is directed by Park Joon-hwa (Lua error: not enough memory.)Lua error: not enough memory., who previously directed Alchemy of Souls (2022–23),[5] penned by Yoo Ah-in, while MBC and Kakao Entertainment co-managed the production. The series is the winning work of a 2022 MBC Drama Script Contest.[3][6][7]

Casting

In December 2024, IU and Byeon Woo-seok were selected to star, as announced by Kakao Entertainment.[8]

On March 28, 2025, TV Daily reported that IU and Byeon would be leaving the series, but their agencies denied the claim.[9] On the next month, Noh Sang-hyun and Gong Seung-yeon were confirmed to appear following IU and Byeon.[3] In June, Yoo Su-bin, Lee Yeon, and Chae Seo-an were reportedly cast.[4][10][11]

Principal photography commenced in April 2025.[12][13]

Release

Perfect Crown was originally slated to premiere on MBC TV in the second half of 2025, but then it was decided to air it either at the end of the year or in 2026.[8][14][15]

In April 2025, the series was confirmed to be broadcast in the first half of 2026, and air in a MBC's Friday–Saturday timeslot.[3] In November 2025, Disney+ unveiled that the series will also be available to stream on their platform.[1]
