Panoa contorta is a species of Desidae spider that is endemic to New Zealand.[1]
Taxonomy
[edit | edit source]This species was described by Ray Forster in 1970 from female specimens. The holotype is stored in Otago Museum.[1]
Description
[edit | edit source]The female is recorded at 5.64mm in length. The cephalothorax and legs are coloured reddish brown. The abdomen is grey with dark bands dorsally.[1]
Distribution
[edit | edit source]This species is only known from Stewart Island, New Zealand.[1]
Conservation status
[edit | edit source]Under the New Zealand Threat Classification System, this species is listed as "Data Deficient" with the qualifiers of "Data Poor: Size" and "Data Poor: Trend".[2]
