You are welcome to start a Task Force in your town, city, or community based on one of the following project-based approaches, or another approach you develop. Be creative and awesome and help make a project dedicated to documenting public art using Wikipedia.
The Artist Research Project
[edit source]This is an initiative developed by the International Network for the Conservation of Contemporary Art-North America (INCCA-NA) and designed to produce the most up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge about the representation and conservation of a body of artwork by a single artist or artist collective.
- The inaugural artist selected in the Artist Research Project is Tony Smith. Using the Wikipedia list of Tony Smith outdoor sculptures as a starting point, the goal is to create a Wikipedia article about every single outdoor sculpture in the world before by Tony Smith before his 100th birthday, September 23.
Museum & cultural sector projects
[edit source]- E-Volunteer Museum Program: Volunteers learn how to use Wikipedia, then use museum resources to create/contribute to articles.
- Get started: E-volunteer plan.
- Sample plans
- * The Indianapolis Museum of Art e-volunteer program
- * The Royal Ontario Museum e-volunteer program
The Public art community project
[edit source]- For artworks in the United States you can use the SOS! Database to find public artworks in your city that already have at least one reliable reference.
- General guidelines for this work are listed in the SOS! to Wikipedia process
- For examples of communities using the process see these WikiProject Public Art Task Forces:
