Guidelines
[edit source]- For WPAC-related articles, add the parameter
|wpac-task-force=yesto the {{WikiProject Weather}} or {{WPWX}} template on the talk page. - The Regional Specialized Meteorological Center (RSMC) for the WPAC is the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), and as such intensity data from the JMA should take first priority. Usually 1-minute winds from the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) are used in conjunction with JMA data, but JTWC data should not be taken to be official.
- Other agencies operating in the WPAC include the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau (CWB), the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO), the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), Macao's Direcção dos Serviços Meteorológicos e Geofisicos (SMG), the Korea Meteorological Administration, Vietnam's National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF), and the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD). They may assess intensities differently from the JMA and JTWC, and their data could be used when writing about local impacts for greater perspective.
