Many infoboxes use subtemplates.

Metadata / formatting subtemplates

Most infoboxes use subtemplates chiefly to emit metadata as part of embedded microformats (see Wikipedia:WikiProject Microformats), or for formatting purposes. Here are some subtemplates which you may use:

Embedding one infobox into another

One infobox template can be embedded into another using the |child= parameter or the |embed= parameter. This feature can be used to create a modular infobox, or to create better-defined logical sections. For more information on how to do this, please see Template:Infobox#Embedding.
