Scope
[edit source]Wikipedia:Good articles (shortcut WP:GA) is a list of articles which are well written, broad, referenced, neutral and accurate, beyond those which have been rigorously reviewed and identified as the very best of Wikipedia by the featured article process. As the list contains thousands of articles, this project exists to assist in its maintenance. Tasks which members of this project may wish to assist with include:
- Keeping the list at WP:GA in sync with Category:Wikipedia good articles
- Updating the numbers in the table on WP:GA
- Sweeping through listed entries to ensure they meet the criteria for listing
- Reviewing nominations at WP:GAN and adding them to the list if they meet the criteria
- Encouraging Wikiprojects to review articles for accuracy where expert input is desirable
- Identifying good content and nominating it to WP:GAN
- Organizing GAN backlog elimination drives
- Promoting the Good articles list
- Reviewing articles listed at WP:GAR and give recommendations for consensus

Structure
[edit source]A good article will share many characteristics with featured articles, and like featured content it must:
- be well written
- be factually accurate
- use a neutral point of view
- be stable (that is, not subject to any ongoing edit wars)
- be referenced, and
- where possible, contain images to illustrate it. The images should all be appropriately tagged.
Good articles may not be as thorough and detailed as our featured articles, but should not omit any major facets of the topic.
Templates
[edit source]Templates for use by WP:GA include the following:
- {{GA}} - added to the talk page of listed articles; automatically places them in Category:Wikipedia good articles
- {{Good article}} - added to the article page (mainspace) of listed articles; automatically places a small GA logo in the upper right corner of the page.
- {{DelistedGA}} - added to the talk page of delisted articles. An explanation of why an article has been delisted should always be left as well.
- {{FailedGA}} - for articles that fail the self nomination
- {{ArticleHistory}} - combines the features used by the aforementioned templates into one, single template, which is also designed to work with the peer review and featured article processes as well.
There is also an open tasks template for this project: {{WikiProjectGATasks}}
