When getting a photo, it's preferable to have a GNU Free Documentation License.

Requesting photographs and images

For Germany-related articles needing a photograph, use {{Image requested|in=Germany}} in the talk page, which adds the article needing a photo to Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Germany. You can help Wikipedia by uploading freely licensed photographs for these articles to Wikimedia Commons.

The Free Image Search Tool may be able to locate suitable images on other web sites.

The Image Existence Checker shows articles in this list that have images.

Addressing requests

The aim is to reduce the list of requested photographs.

  • Get out there and explore the country. Check for requests near where you are with the Map of requests.
  • Look through your photo collection.
  • Check article to see if pictures have been added since the request was made. If so remove the request for photo template.
  • Look on the web for images
    • Search in Commons for appropriate images
    • Look in other language Wikipedia pages, particularly the German site for images
    • Look on the internet. For example with FIST
  • Add co-ordinates to articles of places if missing.

  • Add additional subject categories to the {{reqphoto}} template
  • Add {{Commonscat}} template to articles where there is a Commons Category.
