Use as a source
[edit source]The reliability of Catholic-Hierarchy has been discussed several times on Wikipedia; cf. Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 203#catholic-hierarchy.org, Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 464#Catholic-Hierarchy.org. While it is a self-published source, the general consensus from discussions has been that the website is often cited by Catholic dioceses and newspapers and as such, the owner David Cheney can be considered a subject-matter expert. The site is also an aggregator of information published in offline sources such as the Annuario Pontificio; it is a reliable way to cite those sources. This is especially true of dead persons, though an open subject regarding living persons.
As such, Catholic-Hierarchy can generally be considered a reliable source for dead persons, and usually for living persons, in the view of WikiProject Catholicism.
