[edit source]

Hi Editor. Thank you for your feedback on my article about the British Columbia Conservatory of Music. I am struggling with getting this article accepted, and I am wondering what I could do to improve this article to match up with similar articles such as the one for the Royal Academy of Music. Thank you!

Researchpaper1 (talk) 00:19, 22 May 2013 (UTC)researchpaper1

Wikipedia content shold be based on reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as articles in newspapers or reputable music magazines. Your sources largely are primary sources such as a book published by the BCCM itself or their own website. Others are not reliable; for example Tom Lee Music is a store, not a news agency, and their website is unlikely to be subject to editorial oversight. You will probably have to rewrite the article significantly so it becomes a summary of what reliable third-party sources have to say about the Conservatory. Huon (talk) 03:09, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
I've left some specific comments on the draft at Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/British Columbia Conservatory of Music. - Voceditenore (talk) 11:16, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Why was my submission not accepted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Josh2bmd (talkcontribs) 03:42, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Your submission was not accepted because it lacked sufficient coverage in reliable third-party sources to establish the company's notability. For that, we require multiple good sources of at least a paragraph each about the company. Self-published blogs are not considered reliable and should not be used as sources. Huon (talk) 15:13, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Can you change the title to New Warriors Arena 108.240.222.57 (talk) 03:45, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Technically I could, but it seems a little premature for such an article when they haven't even started building it. When the draft is accepted the reviewer will move it to an appropriate title anyway. Huon (talk) 04:42, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

I resubmitted the article with references, as requested. But I'm new and can't tell if my references are still there or if I need to retype them. The REFERENCES section is blank, but has 5 numbers. Jelafi17 (talk) 06:59, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

The references should be added to the article text itself, immediately after the statement they are cited for. The footnotes will be automatically displayed in the references section by the {{reflist}} template, and the small numbers which will appear in the text itself will link to the corresponding footnote. I've moved the {{reflist}} template below the references so they are visible, but you should move the references to the appropriate places. Huon (talk) 15:13, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Radio Directory

[edit source]

I am missing a article taking up information of this services, it exist many directories that can be a own list beside internet radios. Should i create one or is it lack of interest/references to create a good article about that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.47.143.92 (talk) 07:31, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

We have a callbook article which covers a certain kind of radio directory. I'm not sure whether there's enough to be said about radio directories in general to write an article on them; if you know of good sources to write such an article, you can use the Article Wizard to write a draft.
Wikipedia itself is not a directory, but we do have various lists of radio stations; see for example the list of radio stations in Sweden. Huon (talk) 15:13, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Hello, this is all new and I look forward to learning how to do it right. What do I have to do to get this article edited properly and then published? I appreciate your help and guidance.---Richard — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.100.134.199 (talk) 11:58, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

This draft cites no reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as articles in newspapers or reputable magazines. Instead it only cites primary sources such as the websites of organizations McCollough is affiliated with, or YouTube videos of his own films. Wikipedia requires third-party coverage, both to allow our readers to verify the article's content and to establish that McCollough is notable enough for an article in the first place. See also WP:Referencing for beginners on how to easily create nicely-formatted footnotes. Finally, if you are yourself McCollough, you may want to have a look at our guideline on conflicts of interest; writing an autobiography is strongly discouraged. Huon (talk) 15:13, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Fly Panda Article creation

[edit source]

Hi I am trying to prove Fly Panda's notability in order to have their Wikipedia article approved (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Fly_Panda). My last edit was declined due to inadequate sources.

Would this new mtv music profile prove notability? http://www.mtv.com/artists/fly-panda/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.83.182.174 (talk) 16:22, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

No. That profile was submitted by the artists themselves and is not under MTV's editorial control. What the band writes about itself cannot establish its notability; we need reliable third-party sources such as newspaper articles or reviews published in reputable music magazines for that. Huon (talk) 18:07, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

I have attempted to submit an article "Ecoburb" listed above in the subject line for review. It keeps coming back saying not submitted for review after I press "save article." How do I submit this for review? CynthialouisegCynthialouiseg 17:08, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

The "currently not submitted" message is an artefact; the submission instructions explicitly tell you to "simply ignore the old (grey) drafted templates". Usually a bot will clean that up; here Joe Decker did so. The draft is correctly submitted for review; you may want to check Joe Decker's comment, though. Huon (talk) 18:07, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Articles for Creation "Garnet Capital Advisors"

[edit source]

Hi, before making necessary updates/changes to "Garnet Capital Advisors" creation page I was wondering for further clarification on the notability required to move forward in the process. Also, what type of sources are not considered applicable vs. which ones are.

Thanks, Danman13190 (talk) 17:35, 22 May 2013 (UTC)danman13190

Notability requires significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, such as articles in newspapers or reputable trade magazines. See also WP:CORP for more specific notability guidelines. Press releases are not considered reliable because they are not subject to editorial oversight. Websites of organizations closely associated with the subject (such as a conference websites detailing the conference speakers, or the AABD reporting on their new director) are considered primary sources; they are not independent. A bare-bones business directory such as this is not considered significant coverage. Huon (talk) 18:07, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

There's an article in there for Media Development Loan Fund, but the organization changed it's name. I tried resubmitting a brand new article but it says that it's a duplicate. I can't find a way to change the actual name of Media Development Loan Fund. Any ideas? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ShubhaBala (talkcontribs) 19:18, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Just change the name in the title on that page. If the article is accepted after review, the reviewer, hopefully, will give it the right name. LionMans Account (talk) 20:36, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

1. Create the article in its own page starting WP:WIZ. 2. Make sure you have references. LionMans Account (talk) 20:40, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Good day

There are no hard copy documents to verify the information presented. The references, newspaper articles, and FIDE web pages presented are what is available. An official from the Trinidad & Tobago Chess Association may be contacted to verify the information.

I looked at the pages from some of the other chess associations like the Albania Chess Championship and the verification sources presented were similar.

What more sources are required for the article Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Trinidad and Tobago Chess Championship given these circumstances? Watcher56 (talk) 21:30, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

If the only published information about the organisation is from the organisation itself, then it is not a suitable topic for Wikipedia. Sorry. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 21:57, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
If the "Trinidad Guardian" is a newspaper/news website with proper editorial control (as opposed to a personal blog) then the articles in it may be sufficient to establish notability although it is preferrable to have citations from at least two separate publications - so take a look at other news media. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 09:41, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

I have followed the suggestion to add another National Newspaper's (Newsday) articles. I also corrected the links to the USA Drum Web Site's stories.04:17, 25 May 2013 (UTC)Watcher56 (talk)

Hi,

I submitted an article for review 3 or 4 weeks ago, yet it still says my article is waiting to be reviewed. Can you tell me if there is something I am doing incorrectly?

It is [ [Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Berkeley Hall School] ]

Thank you!

Cooper Sisters (talk) 21:42, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

Actually that draft was submitted for review on May 8, not quite two weeks ago. There's currently a backlog of almost a thousand submissions awaiting review, so it may take two weeks until a draft is reviewed. I've had a look at yours, but I had to decline it because most of the content was not verifiable from reliable sources. I don't think the single local newspaper article is enough to establish the school's notability either. Huon (talk) 22:09, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
