Technical requests
[edit source]Uncontroversial technical requests
[edit source]
- Rhamnus prinoides → Gesho (currently a redirect back to Rhamnus prinoides) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23C0Y discuss) – Needs moving to the common (as already stated in the intro) English and commercial (for use in medicine/as the Ethiopian version of hops) name, per WP:NCFLORA, away from the Latin. This is evidenced in Ngrams and the likes of [1], [2], [3], [4], etc. Iskandar323 (talk) 15:38, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
- WTPS (AM) → WDCJ (currently a redirect instead to WLNO (FM)) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23ATH discuss) – Call sign change on 12/11. Radio One is certainly not making RM's life easy at the moment, lol. Xenon54 (talk) 16:57, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
- Cas13a → Cas13 (currently a redirect instead to CRISPR#Cas13) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%2353S discuss) – the article currently titled Cas13a covers multiple Cas13 subtypes, not just Cas13a Passepar2 (talk) 07:41, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- ESPN Bet → TheScore Bet (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%2311M discuss) – Penn Entertainment has consolidated its sportsbook services under the name "theScore Bet" following the end of its partnership with ESPN. The U.S. operation previously known as ESPN Bet is the more prominent of the two parts and is the only one with an article of its own; said article could be expanded with discussion of the Canadian arm (and previous U.S. attempts) from Score Media and Gaming. "ESPN Bet" could be repurposed as a dab page as it will remain a content brand for shows like ESPN Bet Live. — stickguy (:^›)— || talk || 14:55, 18 December 2025 (UTC)
- Slavske → Slavsko (currently a redirect back to Slavske) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23399 discuss) – Renamed in 2023. Shwabb1 ⟨taco⟩ 20:46, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- FM Radio Quezon → DWJY (currently a redirect back to FM Radio Quezon) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23F0J discuss) – Current call letters as per recent NTC listings: [5] and [6]. Superastig (talk) 12:59, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- The Big Powerful Owl → Powerful Owl (sculpture) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23M3R discuss) – Sculpture isn't known as current title in any capacity except on Wikipedia; offical name is "Owl" but this is fairly generic. Locally it is called the "Belconnen Owl", but it's also the most notable (only?) sculpture of a Powerful owl anywhere. Belconnen Owl (talk) 12:17, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Looking at various sources, most of them don't call it "Powerful Owl". Some of them do say that it depicts a powerful owl, but that's different from saying that is the name of the statue. The statue seems to be referred to with a variety of names, but perhaps the most frequent and official one is simply Owl. See also the comments on the article's Talk page. MOS:ART/TITLE would suggest the title Owl (Armstrong). — BarrelProof (talk) 20:56, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah "The Big Powerful Owl" seems a bit far-fetched from what the sources say. Support moving to Owl (Armstrong) per MOS:ART/TITLE. HurricaneZetaC 21:28, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

- User:Framl/sandbox/Katjana Ballantyne is invalid. Must create User:Framl/sandbox/Katjana Ballantyne before requesting that it be moved to Katjana Ballantyne.– Created new article in my personal sandbox, but there is an existing redirect on the article's intended title. Framl (talk) 23:00, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Polonization → Polonisation (currently a redirect back to Polonization) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23GLI discuss) – According to the notice on the talk page, this article uses British English. However, the title should only use Oxford spelling if the notice on the talk page explicitly says it uses Oxford spelling; thus I don’t see any evidence. 2600 etc (talk) 00:07, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

Contested technical requests
[edit source]
- Jaffna kingdom → Jaffna Kingdom (currently a redirect back to Jaffna kingdom) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23LHB discuss) – Kingdom should be capitalised here, as it is in a proper noun context. TenghuiHadath (talk) 11:36, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- @[[User:TenghuiHadath}|TenghuiHadath}]] No, kingdom should be lowercase; see other pages in Category:Kingdoms of Sri Lanka, Category:Former kingdoms etc. It's only capitalized when its the first letter of the title. Vestrian24Bio 13:28, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- @TenghuiHadath - fixing ping. HurricaneZetaC 18:44, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- This isn’t the case for other kingdoms though, such as “Ryukyu Kingdom”, “Indo-Greek Kingdom” or “Bosporan Kingdom” (all of these are capital K)
- This is inconsistent and should be rectified accordingly. The correct directions in which to rectify these errors is towards using a capital K for all of these kingdoms, because it’s firstly easier, and secondly actually grammatically correct. TenghuiHadath (talk) 05:10, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

- Song of the Soviet Army → Invincible and Legendary (currently a redirect back to Song of the Soviet Army) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%2347M discuss) – It is better known under the IaL title in the internet. VDVSK (talk) 14:33, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- @VDVSK waiting for sources before moving (note that while English-language sources are preferred, non-English are acceptable if that's all there is) ASUKITE 18:00, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Asukite and @Tenshi Hinanawi. Doesn't COMMONNAME invite articles to have their most used name? Both the Russian and Turkish Wikis list the title as "Invincible and Legendary" but I also found some sources that refer to it by that title as its primary title:
- If you also Google it on YouTube then you'll get more results under IaL than SotSA. I believe IaL was the original title when the song was composed but it was changed after the renaming of the Red Army? I ain't too keen on the specifics so take that last sentence with some salt. - This discussion should be either closed down or moved to WP:RM. Doing it as a requested move means that readers of Song of the Soviet Army are alerted to the move discussion. Doing at technical requests is an abuse of process.-- Toddy1 (talk) 12:48, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Pi → π (currently a redirect instead to Pi (disambiguation)) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23X3D discuss) – Entire article names it as π. Can be converted to lowercase title by using template {{lowercase title}}. - ExcitedA. It may be a good idea to look at this. 23:26, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

- Lilium → Lily (currently a redirect back to Lilium) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23JWN discuss) – Most people call the flower a lily. Madison Elizabeth Michelle (talk) 14:37, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- This move doesn't look or sound uncontroversial at all. Do you have actual proof that Lily is the WP:COMMONNAME, other than that assertion? Thanks, 1isall (he/him) (talk | contribs) 14:43, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- You would probably say, "I planted a lily in the garden." It would be weird to say, "I planted a lilium in the garden". Madison Elizabeth Michelle (talk) 20:18, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- Madison Elizabeth Michelle WP:NCFLORA is our guideline on this, and the point in it is basically that while, in this case, "Lily" is the most used name in the English language, "Lilium" is the scientific name and used worldwide. It's a bit weird, but there are also exceptions to this, and this is done by starting a discussion, usually through the WP:RM process. So yeah, it's sorta weird, but it is the guideline (though it isn't invincible). Lily is a redirect anyway, so it's not a huge problem. HurricaneZetaC 01:18, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

- Muslim conquest of the Levant → Muslim conquest of Syria (currently a redirect back to Muslim conquest of the Levant) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23E9C discuss) – Restore title to the last consensus based on an RM (as still viewable on talk), per WP:RMUM — the page has been moved several times since then, but all of these moves were undiscussed Iskandar323 (talk) 13:31, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Iskandar323 It looks like the undiscussed move was in 2013? It's been at that stable title for long enough that I believe an RM is needed to change it back. HurricaneZetaC 17:32, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- 1966 anti-cow slaughter riot → 1966 anti-cow slaughter agitation (currently a redirect back to 1966 anti-cow slaughter riot) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23Z5F discuss) – Undiscussed move that went unnoticed for some time. TryKid [dubious – discuss] 07:34, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- @TryKid It's been nearly 2 years since that move, so I believe it's been too long to revert per WP:RMUM. HurricaneZetaC 17:34, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- The punctuation of the title seems incorrect, as if describing a slaughter riot that is anti-cow. — BarrelProof (talk) 19:36, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- Brad Polumbo → Draft: Brad Polumbo (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23BA8 discuss) – Per discussion with Afd nominator on their talk page for article improvement. Docmoates (talk) 20:49, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Docmoates We generally don’t draftify articles during AfDs, as at that point it really isn’t in the control of the nominator or page creator. There’s a developing consensus to delete, anyway. HurricaneZetaC 20:59, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- @HurricaneZeta - But if an article can be improved to meet policy is that not the goal? Per Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion "Requesting that deleted content be "userfied", i.e., restored as a draft, to userspace or emailed to you; this way, the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere (you may also make a request directly to one of the administrators listed here). Be clear as to which namespace is intended, when requesting the restoration of a deleted article." I am simply trying to be proactive as you stated the consensus is delete. - Hannah Cox → Draft: Hannah Cox (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%231WI discuss) – Working to improve article due to clear delete consensus with the effort of bringing it up to policy. Will not be able to do over the holidays so draft space gives additional time to do so. Docmoates (talk) 21:28, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec → Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc, Quebec (currently a redirect back to Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arc, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Quebec) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23OPF discuss) – Make shorter. Recently became the only municipality in Quebec with that name. Roncanada (talk) 21:05, 19 December 2025 (UTC)
- UPCI → UPCI (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to UPCI) (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%2341F discuss) – Church gets many more views than cancer center, and in practice no one uses this acronym to refer to the province. Mach61 03:53, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Soqotran people (currently a redirect to Soqotrans) → Soqotrans (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23H47 discuss) – WP:COMMONNAME per https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=Socotri%2CSocotris%2CSoqotrans%2CSocotri+people&year_start=1800&year_end=2022&case_insensitive=true&corpus=en&smoothing=3 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 06:30, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Abo Yemen Sorry, but as Farmandeh Arkhar has just reverted/contested the move by moving it back, this move isn't uncontroversial. HurricaneZetaC 19:24, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- Template:Alejandro González Iñárritu → Template:Alejandro G. Iñárritu (move · moves/Technical requests/Permalink}}%23G63 discuss) – To comply with the title of the main article about this filmmaker Mr slav999 (talk) 19:47, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
- @Mr slav999 Actually, after looking at this, I reverted the undiscussed move on the main article since there was some disagreement in 2018 to moving the page (WP:RMUM #2). No objection to opening an RM about this, since it's been 7 years since that last discussion. HurricaneZetaC 20:03, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
