Hidden object in sci fi movies and TV episodes

According to the commentary for the movie Babylon 5: The Gathering, there is a group of people called "the woodland creatures", or something like that, which places the same object in just about every movie or TV show in the sci-fi genre. The object is said to be smaller than a bread box but larger than a Coke can. What is it ? StuRat (talk) 02:46, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
