Housekeeping. This project died a long time ago, it doesn't link to anything, there are no members and no template. I redirected it to WPUS a month or so ago. I am going to add a topic to WPUS for cities and towns but we don't need this anymore. Kumioko (talk) 03:21, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

I was planning on adding a topic under WPUS for cities and towns at some point but I hadn't gotten to it yet. If this is something you think would be useful sooner rather than later let me know. I also think we would need to work with WPCities as well. --Kumioko (talk) 05:55, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
To find a common home for the above U.S. city material (and others that likely are to turn up), we should create a subpage, either Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/U.S. cities or WikiProject United States//U.S. cities. Even after looking at the existing subpages for WikiProject United States and WikiProject Cities, I'm not sure which would work better. A third option is to use Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/U.S. municipality notes, which already has a city subsection. A fourth option is Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. counties#Cities and towns. -- Uzma Gamal (talk) 06:02, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
I was thinking of doing a topic for Cities and towns anyway so this seems reasonable. I hadn't set this as a priority yet only because there wan't anyone actively participating in the old one. I can add something pretty easily though. --Kumioko (talk) 14:19, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
  • Support I can't judge overall the practical implication of locating US cities primarily under US or under Cities in the hierarchy. Specifically I hope for some coherence in the incorporation of US Census 2010 data across counties and across cities. Specifically I suppose that lists of US cities ranked by various criteria (top 25s, etc) tend to be a US thing rather than a Cities thing. Those observations don't add up to a vote for US rather than Cities. --P64 (talk) 18:49, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
I also was not sure of the project that realy is its parent (this was sometime ago). In my experience with this types of projects it seems that the home country project not the main topic project does better at updates etc....If i had a question about Route 66 for example- and there was not US roads project i would ask the country and/or state project my question not the overall roads project. But thats just me. Moxy (talk) 23:10, 8 December 2010 (UTC)
In my opinion regardless of wether we use US or Cities as the Parent the other will still need to be a stakeholder in the developement of the articles. IMO--Kumioko (talk) 21:31, 9 December 2010 (UTC)
