{{Wikipedia:Meetup/UMass Amherst/3/Schedule}} |
- What?
- A one-day event for students, scholars, librarians, and Wikipedians to come together to edit and create Wikipedia pages. Help increase the Web presence of artists, authors, scientists, and historical figures from minority or under-represented groups. From noon throughout the afternoon, we will offer workshops in becoming a Wikipedia content contributor, including technical aspects of article authorship.
- Who?
- Anyone can contribute. Join us if you know a specific page you want to work on, you want to learn more about editing Wikipedia, or if you just want to pitch in. We will have people on hand to help with Wikipedia editing as well as laptops for those who need one.
- Where?
- The W.E.B. Du Bois Library, 13th Floor. UMass Amherst
- When?
- Monday, October 19, 2015, from noon-5. (Drop in at any time, for as long as you want. LUNCH provided!)

- How?
- Do you already know the Wikipedia page you’d like to edit? If you know what needs to be changed or added, be prepared to cite your sources. Since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, any content or editing needs to follow conventions of neutrality and to cite published sources. Original research cannot be used. For more information, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Five_pillars
- Want to contribute but don’t have a specific page in mind? Great! We will have a list of people and works on hand for you.
- Want to contribute but can’t make it? Please get this information out to as many people as possible! Send suggestions for Wikipedia pages that need to be added or edited to lquilter [at] library.umass.edu with a one-sentence description of the person or topic, or add their names to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Meetup/UMass Amherst/3.
- Questions?
