Welcome to the La Guardia and Wagner Archives GLAM page! We are a group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of New York City, and particularly exploring unique archival holdings such as the Edward I. Koch Collection.

Starting in 2021-2022, teams of student research fellows have been selected to work on Wikipedia entries relating to the Archives's LGBTQ Collections.

In past years, student teams served as "Ed Koch Scholars" from 2015-2016 and from January 2016-August 2017 conducting weekly research sessions with guidance from a project team of archivists and instructors. The first two teams focused their research on the creation of the entry on HIV/AIDS in New York City and related subjects. In 2017-2018, the student team worked on the issues of police brutality and NYPD history.

About the La Guardia and Wagner Archives

[edit source]

The LaGuardia and Wagner Archives, established in 1982, serves as a repository for NYC’s social and political history, which includes the largest collection of New York City mayoral papers. Archive records include the personal papers and official documents of Mayors Fiorello H. LaGuardia, Robert F. Wagner, Abraham D. Beame and Edward I. Koch, the records of the New York City Housing Authority, the piano maker Steinway & Sons, The Council of the City of New York and a Queens Local History Collection. Assets from these collections are regularly referenced in news stories, and studied by journalists, policy makers, and other researchers.
