The Fletcher Trust Archives Wikipedia GLAM project page The aim of this project is to make the Archive's collection more publicly accessible through uploading images from the collection with no known copyright onto Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia. To release images from the collection with no known copyright onto Wiki Commons, specifically, images pre-1944. To develop a plan for a summer student to continue this open-access work. {{Wikipedia:GLAM/Smithsonian Institution/Section header|Summer Studentship with Auckland Museum}} Since 2023, the Auckland Museum has hosted a cohort of summer students over 12 weeks, with the core aim being to enrich content available across Wikimedia. Through this program, students are trained by the Museum's Wikimedian in Residence, learning how to engage with and contribute to a variety of Wikimedia platforms. Chefcat29 was one of the students in the 2024-25 summer studentship programme. She worked with The Fletcher Trust Archives over 12 weeks to enhance the visibility of images from their collection with no known copyright restrictions, distributing them onto Wikimedia platforms. From the end of November 2025 to mid February 2026, as part of the 2025 Summer Student programme, LadyRabbit will join the project to utilise Fletcher Archive resources in creating and enriching Auckland history related articles. {{Wikipedia:GLAM/Smithsonian Institution/Section header|Project goals}} Increase engagement with The Fletcher Trust Archives, aligning with Wikimedia's goals of empowering people through the dissemination of free and public knowledge. Distribute select images from The Fletcher Trust Archives onto existing Wikipedia pages in order to visually improve these pages. Assess the potential for ongoing projects and engagement.
