Mount Maidu, located in Tehama County, California, is an extinct stratovolcano[1] south of the Lassen volcanic center. It has Mineral, California, a small community, in its caldera.
Geography
[edit | edit source]Mount Maidu is located southwest of Mount Tehama, northwest of Lake Almanor, and north of Chico, California.
Geology
[edit | edit source]Mount Maidu is one of the several stratovolcanoes that surround the modern Lassen Peak.[2] It has rhyolite lava domes on its northern flank.[1]
