Mompha idaei is a moth in the family Momphidae first described by Philipp Christoph Zeller in 1839.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4] It has a Holarctic distribution;^[2]^[4] in North America it is found from coast to coast in the boreal forest south to Colorado and Washington.^[4]

The wingspan is 18–22 mm.^[3] Adults are on wing in May to July.^[4] The larvae live in the roots of Epilobium angustifolium^[3]^[4] and Epilobium latifolium.^[4]
