Millicent or Milicent is a feminine given name that has been in use since the Middle Ages. The English form Millicent derives from the Old French Melisende, stemming from the Germanic name Amalasuintha (from amal meaning 'work' and swinth meaning 'strength'). The name has gone through many variations, with Melisent first being more usual, eventually giving way to the now more common Millicent.[1]
