Marcel Reed (born July 8, 2004) is an American college football quarterback for the Texas A&M Aggies.
Early life
[edit | edit source]Reed is the son of former Tennessee State head football coach Rod Reed. He attended Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee. A four-year starter, Reed finished his high school career with 6,357 yards passing with 62 touchdowns and rushed for 2,277 yards with 38 touchdowns.[1] Reed committed to Texas A&M University to play college football.[2][3]
College career
[edit | edit source]Reed appeared in three games his first year at Texas A&M in 2023 and was redshirted.[4] Due to injuries he earned most of his playing time in the 2023 Texas Bowl, completing 20 of 33 passes for 361 yards with a rushing touchdown.[5] He entered his redshirt freshman year in 2024 as a backup to Conner Weigman. He made his first career start against the Florida Gators after Weigman was injured. Later in the season, after Reed’s impressive performance against LSU, he was named starter for the rest of the season. [6]
