Jaron Pierre Jr. (born July 12, 2002) is an American college basketball player for the SMU Mustangs of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). He previously played for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, Wichita State Shockers, and Jacksonville State Gamecocks.
Career
[edit | edit source]Pierre attended St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. After his high school career, he committed to play college basketball at University of Southern Mississippi.[1] Pierre played two seasons with the Golden Eagles, averaging 8.8 points as a true freshman and 9.9 points as a sophomore.[2] At the conclusion of his sophomore season, he transferred to Wichita State University.[3] As a junior, he averaged 10.6 points per game before entering the transfer portal for a second time.[4] Pierre transferred to Jacksonville State University, where he redshirted for a season before making an instant impact at the beginning of the 2024–25 season.[5] Against Middle Tennessee State, he scored a career-high 36 points, setting the school record for most points scored in a game at home.[6] At the conclusion of the season, Pierre was named Conference USA Player of the Year.[7][8]
