The Institute of History (Serbian: Istorijski Institut) is a Serbian historical society dedicated to historical research covering the Middle Ages to the establishment of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 1918.[1] The institute was founded on 15 July 1947, in Belgrade, under the director Viktor Novak, and deputy director of Georgy Ostrogorski.[1] The institute was part of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts until 1961, when it became independent.[1]
