Inqilab Moncho is a cultural organization inspired by the July Revolution that took place in Bangladesh during July–August 2024.[1][2][3] The organization aims to oppose all forms of domination and establish a justice-based state that protects freedom and sovereignty.
The founder of the organisation Osman Hadi was shot by assailants linked to Awami League's students' wing Bangladesh Chhatra League.[4] He died from his injuries on December 18, 2025.[5][6]
Demands
[edit | edit source]Several students who participated in the uprising were later killed in different incidents, while others were injured. Leaders of Inqilab Moncho held the Awami League responsible for these attacks, calling them secret killings carried out by the party. Subsequently, Inqilab Moncho presented three demands to the government:[7] Subsequently, Inqilab Manch presented three demands to the government:[8][9][10][11]
- Immediate cancellation of the registration of Awami League, the party responsible for mass killings.
- Immediate arrest of all terrorists in Awami League committees from the central to union level, to protect patriotic students and citizens from political assassinations.
- Ensuring full safety of all July movement fighters, including those in private universities.
Activities
[edit | edit source]Inqilab Moncho organizes various programs in solidarity with the July Revolution. Among them are the nationwide graffiti and slogan rewriting campaign, observance of Martyrs’ Week, hunger strikes to press demands, exhibitions of independence struggle photos, video documentation, martyr memoirs, public prostration (mass sujood) and resistance song performances.[12] hunger strikes to press demands,[13][14] public prostration (mass sujood) and resistance song performances.[15]
2025 December violence
[edit | edit source]The organisation protests erupted nationwide when its spokesperson, Osman Hadi, was shot, injured, and later died. These demonstrations escalated into violent clashes and vandalism in several cities, particularly in Dhaka.[16][17] Although the organisation presents itself as a cultural platform with a student-based identity, critics argue that its activities contradict cultural values. It has been alleged that, despite its claims of cultural representation, the group or its supporters have attacked established cultural organisations and institutions — behaviour many see as inconsistent with its declared character and mission.[18]
