- †Gaidropsarus pilleri Carnevale, 2013 - Middle Miocene (Serravallian) of Austria[5]
The generic name derives from the Ancient Greek roots γῆ (gē, earth); υδρο- (hydro-, "water"); and ψαρός (psaros, "speckled").[6]
