Goldsmiths
[edit | edit source]Corner became Warden of Goldsmiths, University of London in 2019. Through 2024, a focus of her administration was reducing costs by eliminating faculty and staff positions. The cuts were opposed by the Goldsmiths University and College Union (UCU) and students.[5][6][7] Through 2021, Corner also charged the College nearly £20,000 for taxi fares, with £9,000 being for personal use.[8]
On 1 October 2025 it was announced that Professor Frances Corner had stepped down with immediate effect as Vice-Chancellor of Goldsmiths.[9]
Personal life
[edit | edit source]In 1980, the then Frances Marie Agnew married Anthony Peter Corner. Together, they have one son.[1]
In the 2009 Queen's Birthday Honours, Corner was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the fashion industry.[10]
