English: This video was recorded by Nur Fahmia at the Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, where she and Dimas Wahyudi met as students. Dimas is from Kalipuro village, Banyuwangi, East Java, Indonesia, where he grew up speaking Osing with his family. Osing, also known as Using, is spoken by as many as 750,000 Banyuwangi people, primarily in the Indonesian province of East Java. An Austronesian language of the Melay-Polynesian family, Osing is related to Indonesian, as well as Javanese, the lingua franca of East Java province. Traditionally, Osing speakers used the Javanese script to write their language, but have transitioned to the Latin alphabet in recent decades.
