Summary

Description
English: Recent developments in offline internet technologies have enabled the provision of informational content to remote areas lacking adequate resources. Utilizing both storage and wireless network capabilities, offline technologies can bridge the gap between the connected and the unconnected. Building on the findings from the past two iterations of Columbia SIPA projects in the Dominican Republic and Cuba, a team of SIPA Capstone researchers applied past evidence on the use of offline technologies to primary and secondary education. The team conducted field research in rural schools in Peru during the Spring 2018 term to complete a needs assessment and technological feasibility study of two offline technology devices, Internet-in-a-Box and RachelPLUS.
