Shadegan (Persian: شادگان)[a] is a city in the Central District of Shadegan County, Khuzestan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[5] The city is located on the Jarahi River, which empties into the adjacent Shadegan International Wetlands.[6]
Demographics

[edit | edit source]At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 48,642 in 8,600 households.[7] The following census in 2011 counted 52,786 people in 12,088 households.[8] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 41,733 people in 11,404 households.[2]
