Calling all Wikipedia editors and aspiring-editors, come join us to share in the experience of editing Wikipedia! Beginners are especially welcome and encouraged to attend. We meet June 12 at 6.30PM in the Mission District, San Francisco.

  • Presentation about Project Women in Red by Rosiestep

  • Establishing a voting process for the User Group, in order to gain recognition by the Affiliations committee: current organizers will propose a plan for approval by the group
  • Join a co-working table or socialize with other Wikipedians and open knowledge contributors

Demystifying Wikipedia’s Gender Gaps

Please join us for a 30 minutes presentation and Q&A on project Women in Red: "we focus on reducing systemic bias regarding gender representation (content gender gap) in the Wikipedia movement. Our goal is to "move the needle" in terms of statistical representation of women and other gender minorities on Wikipedia."

This is a great opportunity to learn about how editors organize to reduce bias across Wikimedia project and meet other editors. It will be followed by a short presentation by Elan on how to upload biographical databases to Wikidata to improve the representativity of the encyclopedia.
