Eleanor Caitlin Heeps (born 4 August 2003) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Women's Super League (WSL) club Tottenham Hotspur. She previously played for Women's Championship sides Blackburn Rovers, Coventry United, and Sheffield United.
Early life
[edit | edit source]Heeps is from Crewe, Cheshire.[1] She attended Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College.[2] A goalkeeper, Heeps was shortlisted for Young Sports Achiever of the Year at the 2018 Everybody Awards.[3]
Club career
[edit | edit source]Tottenham Hotspur
[edit | edit source]On 13 August 2021, Heeps signed for WSL side Tottenham Hotspur,[4] prior to joining Women's Championship club Backburn Rovers on loan for the 2021–22 season.[5][6]
On 24 April 2024, Heeps signed a new three-year contract with Tottenham Hotspur.[7]
On 23 November 2024, she made her debut for Spurs against Aston Villa in the 2024–25 League Cup, keeping a clean sheet in a 1–0 home win.[8][9] She went onto feature for the following three WSL matches with Tottenham unbeaten, making her league debut against Everton on 8 December.[10][11] On 15 April 2025, Heeps signed a new contract with Spurs taking her to 2028.[12]
Loan spells
[edit | edit source]On 22 September 2022, she joined Women's Championship club Coventry United on loan for the 2022–23 season,[13][14] making ten league appearances for the team.[15]
On 21 October 2023, she joined Sheffield United until January 2024,[16][17] while continuing to train part-time with Tottenham Hotspur,[18] making a further three Championship appearances.[15]
International career
[edit | edit source]In October 2021, Heeps represented the England under-19s in 2022 U19 Championship qualification matches in the starting eleven against Northern Ireland and as a substitute against Switzerland,[19][20] with England winning both matches and progressing to the second round.[21]
