Zumper is an online marketplace for residential rentals in the U.S. and Canada.[1][2]

History

[edit | edit source]

The company was founded in 2012 by Anthemos Georgiades, Russell Middleton, Taylor Glass-Moore, and Leah Jones, and launched at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.[3] The idea for Zumper originated after Georgiades camped overnight to secure an apartment.[4] It raised a $1 million seed round from several venture capital firms, including Kleiner Perkins, Andreessen Horowitz, and Greylock Partners.[5]

In 2016, Zumper acquired PadMapper, a rental search platform, a move that Fortune reported placed the company in more direct competition with Zillow and Trulia.[6] In 2017, Facebook selected Zumper as one of two partners to provide apartment listings for Facebook Marketplace; the program ended several years later.[7][8] In 2025, Statistics Canada used Zumper's rental listings data in its Quarterly Rent Statistics program.[9]

Funding

[edit | edit source]

Zumper has raised about $180 million in venture funding, with its most recent round being a Series D extension in 2022.[10]
